The new 'Gemini Cooperation' is set to commence in February 2025 with the ambition of providing a 'flexible and interconnected maritime transportation network with industry-leading reliability.'
The new collaboration between the two companies will involve a fleet of approximately 290 vessels with a total capacity of 3.4 million TEUs, where Maersk will deploy 60%, and Hapag-Lloyd will account for the remaining 40%.
As part of the agreement, the two companies have set a goal to provide over 90% schedule reliability after the network is fully deployed.
In 2024, Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd will plan the transition from the current alliance to the new operational cooperation, while customer service will continue according to existing agreements.
