Viettel Post has signed an agreement with Bangtong City (China) to collaborate in establishing a representative office and constructing the China-ASEAN Agricultural Commodity Trading Center.

7/3/2024, Viettel Post, a subsidiary of the Military Industry and Telecom Group Viettel, officially signed an agreement with Bangtong City (China) to collaborate in establishing a representative office and constructing the China-ASEAN Agricultural Commodity Trading Center.

Prior to this, Viettel Post also signed an agreement with the government of Nanning City to focus on cooperation in developing cross-border logistics and trade between China and Vietnam.

With these agreements, Viettel Post will invest in deploying the construction of two large logistics centers in China, including the ASEAN-Fruit Trading Center in Bangtong City and the logistics center in Nanning City. These centers will serve as platforms to promote and connect the trade between the two countries, offering a variety of products such as agricultural produce, seafood, and medicinal materials. The company will provide multi-modal transportation services across borders, including rail, road, and waterway transportation between Vietnam and China.

These activities also mark a significant step towards establishing an association of businesses in the logistics import-export sector between the two countries, aiming to optimize costs and reduce the time for goods circulation.

According to Viettel Post, from March 5-7, 2024, the company worked closely with the city government and businesses in Nanning and Bangtong to reach various official agreements.

Viettel Post has signed an agreement with the government of Nanning City to focus on cooperation in developing cross-border logistics and trade between China and Vietnam

In specific terms, in Nanning, Viettel Post has entered into a cooperation agreement with the government of Nanning City regarding the development of cross-border logistics and trade between China and Vietnam. Through this, Viettel Post becomes the first Vietnamese logistics unit to collaborate with the local government in China to enhance cross-border transportation infrastructure, aiming to optimize logistics costs, reduce transportation time, enhance competitiveness for Vietnamese goods, and elevate Vietnam's logistics position in connecting countries in the ASEAN region and China.

In the city of Bangtong, Viettel Post has also reached agreements with businesses covering three main points. Firstly, the two parties will cooperate efficiently in the multi-modal transport operation conversion between road and rail via the Yen Vien - Dong Dang - Bangtong - Nanning intermodal route. Secondly, they will collaborate in establishing the China-ASEAN Agricultural Commodity Trading Center. Thirdly, the two parties will learn from each other, exchange designs, techniques, and technologies to jointly promote the implementation of smart border checkpoints.

Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh, General Director of Viettel Post, stated that the investment and cooperation activities of Viettel Post aim to implement a logistics infrastructure planning strategy, including logistics parks, logistics centers, external warehouse facilities, and container ports. This aims to connect resource-rich areas, agricultural regions, and seafood production areas with transportation hubs via railways, seaways, airports, and border crossings to reduce both time and costs in the circulation of goods.

In a recent discussion with VnEconomy, Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh emphasized that Vietnam has a strategically advantageous geographical location to become a global logistics hub, connecting the 700 million ASEAN population with the 1.4 billion population of China, as well as linking with countries in the Indian Ocean and Pacific regions with minimal time and optimal costs.

Therefore, with many geographical advantages, Vietnam needs to be directed to become a global logistics center, connecting goods between ASEAN and China with the rest of the world. Hence, it is necessary to build a global logistics hub. Being a hub, goods will converge in Vietnam and then be distributed in various directions via roads, railways, and waterways. According to Mr. Thanh, this will also contribute to promoting Vietnam as a trading hub for agricultural products between Vietnam, China, ASEAN, and the world.
