According to the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has recently issued a notice to Taiwanese import/export associations and customs authorities regarding enhanced inspections on Vietnamese cauliflower imports.

TFDA stated that within the past six months, three batches of cauliflower imported from Vietnam, classified under HS code 0704.10.00.00.7 — white cauliflower and broccoli (fresh or chilled) — failed to meet inspection standards at the border.

To ensure food safety for imported products, TFDA announced that from August 26 to September 25, 2025, it will implement batch-by-batch inspections on cauliflower imported from Vietnam.

If deemed necessary, this measure may be extended beyond the initial period. In such a case, TFDA will publish the extension on its official website without issuing additional written notifications.

The Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei released this information to inform Vietnamese vegetable exporters in general — and cauliflower exporters in particular — and to urge them to strengthen quality control for exported produce, in order to avoid rejection or destruction of goods.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that Taiwan is a market with strict food safety and quarantine standards for imported agricultural products. Therefore, Vietnamese agricultural exports must consistently meet quality requirements and be accompanied by all necessary documentation and certifications, such as Certificates of Origin (C/O), phytosanitary certificates, and chemical residue reports related to agricultural production.
