According to information from the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (China), Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has issued a notice on strengthening inspections of Vietnamese vegetables exported to Taiwan.

Accordingly, from November 18, 2025 to December 17, 2025 (calculated from the date of import), Taiwan will impose enhanced sampling inspections and maintain the current inspection levels for radishes, headless cabbages, and other fresh or chilled brassica vegetables used as food, under HS code 0704.90.90.90.2 (English description: Other Kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassica, fresh or chilled) imported from Vietnam.

The reason is that over the past six months, three shipments of these products failed to meet quarantine and inspection requirements.

The TFDA announcement also states that before the above-mentioned strengthened inspection measures expire, if an assessment shows the need for an extension, TFDA will publish it on the agency’s official portal without issuing separate notifications.

Since the beginning of the year, Taiwan has been hit by several typhoons, and Vietnamese leafy greens in general—and brassica vegetables in particular—have become among the country’s well-performing export items to this market.

Based on TFDA’s warning, Vietnamese exporters are advised to proactively study Taiwan’s quarantine and inspection regulations to ensure product quality and avoid losses caused by destruction orders (or return of goods) due to failed import quarantine checks.
