X-Press plans to run its new vessels on green methanol within Europe. The company has a contract for the supply of ISCC-EU certified bio-methanol, a renewable fuel created from organic waste matter and residues, from Dutch fuel supplier OCI Global, .
Starting in the second quarter of 2024, the first feeder ships will initially be deployed from Rotterdam with calls covering ports in the Baltic Sea and Scandinavia; coverage will extend through Europe and the Mediterranean as the 14 dual fuel ships X-Press Feeders has on order are delivered from Q2 2024 through 2026.
The companies said the they will work to establish Europe’s first green methanol powered feeder network, and that the agreement was a significant statement of leadership towards a sustainable green future.
